A strong focus on food safety and (personal) hygiene

Hessing planted a new production location in Greenport Venlo. From the beginning of 2023, thousands of vegetables roll off the production line every day. With this, Hessing wants people to eat even more fruit and vegetables to promote both health and sustainability.

High-care environment

The production halls in Venlo are built close to many important horticultural areas in the Netherlands and close to their main customers. Every day, Hessing processes 320,000 kg of vegetables into more than 850 different vegetable products using automated processes. There are 100 production lines for cutting, washing, drying and packing fresh vegetables.

But Hessing is more than a vegetable cutting company. The factory is designed in such a way that future product innovations can also take place. This is a real high-care environment with many possibilities.
 

High-capacity hygiene locks

With these figures and excessive ambitions, there is of course also a strong focus on food safety and (personal) hygiene. A high-capacity hygiene lock was installed by BOONS FIS for each production line. Each hygiene lock has one or more devices for soaping and/or disinfecting hands and cleaning the soles of shoes. The employees and visitors must go through the complete action plan to gain access to the production halls.

Step 1:
Soap the hands

The HDK/XL is an automatic dispenser that sprays the soap product on the hands when the users have put both hands in the round openings. After successful soaping, the turnstile is released and the person can proceed to the sinks to continue washing their hands.

Step 2:
Wash the hands

The stainless steel wash troughs are equipped with Dyson Airblade Wash+Dry taps. These taps automatically switch between water and air. You can wash and dry your hands without touching the tap.

Optionally, these hand washing sinks can be finished with a stainless steel housing to protect the technology of Dyson. Hessing opted for the most aesthetic finish with a stainless steel substructure console with removable service panel.

Step 3:
Disinfect the hands

In the final phase, you pass over the sole cleaner of the URK, which only gives access when the hands in both openings activate the atomization of the disinfection product. During the passage, the soles are cleaned with two rotating brushes.

Speed gates

BOONS FIS also installed Speed Gates in the main building of Hessing. The entrance gates with sliding glass screens are not only durable and elegant, but also intuitive and smart.

With badge control, this compact security gate offers modern, 'transparent' access protection.
