De Lijn is the transport company responsible for public transport in Flanders. The concern called upon the expertise of BOONS FIST to take care of its cleaning needs.

De Lijn was in search of a high pressure installation that enabled autonomous cleaning at any site at high pressure and a temperature as desired. Such an installation was needed in Ghent to clean the tram rails and points. Here thorough cleaning is required to prevent derailment and accidents.

BOONS FIS developed an installation with its own diesel motor, heating oil tank and water tank. A burner unit was also provided. This installation was built-into a lorry from De Lijn. Hoses, stainless steel reels, guns and other accessories were also installed on the lorry. Then cleaning can take place at any location without utilities being needed. For this application the option chosen was an installation with a pressure of 200 bar and a water temperature that can vary from cold to 90 °C.

After a first successful installation, BOONS FIS has already fitted out a further number of vehicles for De Lijn. All vehicles are assembled according to the same principle but as different versions.

Finally, BOONS is FIS also responsible for servicing and maintaining all installations and accessories.
