When companies make the switch to a new cleaning installation (completely new unit or renewal in an existing production environment) continuing to guarantee the cleaning process during installation of the new unit is not always a simple matter.

To provide a solution here, the engineering team at BOONS FIS designed a custom-made system for the customer specially assembled on a skid frame. In practice this came down to the whole cleaning installation being assembled on a stainless steel frame. Full assembly took place at BOONS’ own workshop, before the skid frame was transported as a whole to the customer*.

In practice this unit feeds 16 branch points where a selection can be made between rinsing, two foam products (acid and lye) and a disinfectant. The dosing pumps are provided with a ‘day tank’ for the day’s quantity of product to be dosed. The unit was provided with a pre-pressure pump on the water tank and the necessary pressure-booster pumps. The installation is controlled by a Siemens PLC control that communicates with customer’s PROFINET. The additional wish of the customer to have all components provided in stainless steel was also satisfied.

For many companies in the process industry a skid is the ideal solution because a complete installation on frame can be installed more quickly that when assembling all the separate components on the site itself. The shortest possible downtime is then guaranteed!
